What Writing Means to Me?

Updated: May 8, 2021

The way to peace and living my dreams...

I’m reverting this as a letter or a blog to respect a girl I’ve met and inspire my way to my aspiring writing career. For her, writing is the Inner Music that Words Make. And believe me, I hear this music, every single day. This is the music I want to hum all my life and learn new notes each time I hear her write!

I called myself a writer, a “content writer”, but I realized something from her blog- “Never say you’re a ‘writer’ if you are not writing. Even if you are writing, don’t call yourself a ‘writer’, say instead, I write. It’s the verb that’s important, not the noun.” - Patti Digh

So, talking about the topic of discussion, “What writing means to me? Writing is healing.”

It makes me forget all the struggles I’ve made, writing lets me pour out my pain and share things that I can never share with anyone. Unlike the civilized race, a paper and pen or a keyboard won’t ask for any favors in return. You just roll out words and they become your literary expressions. This is what writing means to me.

For others, writing is a means to raise their voice against sundry social issues, where for some other group, writing is merely a means to spend their time. Some want to express their love, where the others want to cherish the age old memories. Everybody writes, just the medium and reason can be different.

Like it is said for books that they are your best friends, I’m afraid can anyone live without writing?

This is my reply to the nonpareil question I’ve ever come across. Being a writer, we all should have the answer to this question. So, what does writing mean to you?

“Writing is my oxygen and apart from my creator, my family and my only constant.” - Sandra Sealy
